It's a long hard road out of hell, or so I hear.
You've never been through hell yourself, then?
No, I've just never tried to leave.
Winston Churchill said "If you're going through hell, keep going." I keep wondering if that makes sense. If you're going through hell wouldn't you want to turn around and go back the other way? Clearly nothing good is coming out of wherever you are. There is, of course, something to be said for perseverance in the face of obstacles, but there's also something to be said for knowing when you're wrong.
One piece of advice though, whether you decide to keep going or to get the hell out, never look back. I can't tell you why, but Lot and Orpheus will both agree with me.

Ich will
"Satisfaction is the death of desire."
It seems strange to think about but it makes perfect sense. Attaining anything is the end of wanting to attain it. We tend to set goals and see them as the end, but maybe most goals would make a better beginning. As soon as we attain something we want then the real work can start.

Let me save you the time...
Want to know which celebrity you're most like? Or which of the seven dwarfs best matches your personality? How about what flavor of ice cream you resemble? Good news, it's now much easier. I've managed to condense every facebook quiz ever made (or yet to be made) into one simple formula. The results?
You're shockingly average.
Now stop filling up my newsfeed with crap.

Fritz Online: Now with brightness!
No, don't adjust your monitor, your eyes aren't lying to you. I've actually done something that isn't all black. I know, I know. it's a little weird. I'm sure you'll get used to it though. If I'm feeling especially artsy at some point I'll make my own banner image and such. And knowing me, in in a month I'll get rid of it all and go back to a nice black-on-black design.
The real question, of course, is what on earth am I going to put up here?

Facts of Life
"Mere cleverness is not meant to cope with the facts of birth and death."
~ Pen-Hsien
I've been thinking a lot lately about mindfulness and trying to live in the current moment. I've come to the conclusions that if I structure my time better and get things done when I need to I'll end up with less to worry in the future, and be able to concentrate better on the present.

Perfect Futures
A great man once wrote
"I asked myself was I content
with the world that I once cherished?
Did it bring me to this darkened place
to contemplate my perfect future?"
Actually those are just the lyrics from Epicentre by VNV Nation, and whether or not you'd consider Ronan Harris a great man his sentiments ring true. Every once in a while we have to stop and ask ourselves "is this what I want to be doing?" It's nice sometimes just to stop and think about it. And whatever happens, we all have our futures to look forward to, imperfect as they may be.
