hard road out

It's a long hard road out of hell, or so I hear.
You've never been through hell yourself, then?
No, I've just never tried to leave.

Winston Churchill said "If you're going through hell, keep going." I keep wondering if that makes sense. If you're going through hell wouldn't you want to turn around and go back the other way? Clearly nothing good is coming out of wherever you are. There is, of course, something to be said for perseverance in the face of obstacles, but there's also something to be said for knowing when you're wrong.

One piece of advice though, whether you decide to keep going or to get the hell out, never look back. I can't tell you why, but Lot and Orpheus will both agree with me.

Ich will

"Satisfaction is the death of desire."

It seems strange to think about but it makes perfect sense. Attaining anything is the end of wanting to attain it. We tend to set goals and see them as the end, but maybe most goals would make a better beginning. As soon as we attain something we want then the real work can start.
